Despite the technology and internet, the old-school method of business travel is still used. There are some good reasons for companies or businesses to have the trip done. It is not only for the sake of the business, but also for the social factor. So, why do companies still have the business trip done and implemented?


First of all, a business trip is still needed for important business deal. Sure, you probably can sign off contracts or business agreement over the internet, email, and video chat. It is definitely faster and easier but it does not feel right, somehow. When you want to close off an important business deal, you need to be present in the room with the other parties. You need to witness the sign off, shake hands, and celebrate it. You can do it all through long distance arrangement, but it would feel surreal as if it didn’t happen. And let’s not forget the legal power over the signed contract. The law today still has blurry definition and line concerning any contract deal that is done through the help of digital device. In case something is wrong, you will have a difficult time proving your case in the court of law.

Second, business travel is needed when a representative from the company is required. Let’s say that you have a potential investor who wants to do business with you. However, instead of coming over to have a presentation, you prefer to do everything through the screen of the computer. If you are on the investor’s shoes, how would you feel? Is it disrespected, neglected and ignored or underestimated? Sometimes, this kind of business trip is designed as a gesture of honor between business parties.

In short, the business trip is still wanted despite whatever advanced made in the world of technology because no device can ever replace the human interaction. As it was mentioned before, the business travel is more than just a business arrangement. It is about human interaction.
